BrightLife needed an identity for their new community art trail which involves gathering locals of all ages to create different butterflies and disperse them along specific routes through the woods. Getting people together and sharing happiness through art, whilst using the butterfly as a symbol of transformation and change.
The name 'Social Butterflies' fit the project very well and the butterfly mark shows collaboration and creativity through the Venn diagram and watercolour visuals. The project launched to great success and was picked up and pushed by the Northwich BID (Business Improvement District) as seen below.
“Hopefully we’ll see more and more butterflies popping up around the town centre to promote the message that people of all ages are included, respected and welcomed in the Northwich community.”

Process & Development
Firstly 'Social Butterflies' was chosen from the list of names I created over an afternoon of research, BrightLife asked me to highlight some of my preferences too.
As this project was for a charity I knew the budget and time constraints that were on me, however I was allowed more creative freedom in the concept phase. This meant I could create four options based on my initial thoughts and research then refine two of them digitally, I was really happy with both directions and understood the clients choice to lean towards the more homemade arts & crafts option.
Some more tweaking with the fonts to fond an artisanal look and feel, then the colours were adjusted to match the four from the AgeUK branding and we were ready to launch.
